Love Bug Starski

Lovebug Starski is one of the Hip-Hops earliest emcees. He came out of the Black Spades organization and emceed for Kool DJ D and Tyrone, both out of the same organization.

He later worked for Pete DJ Jones, who Grandmaster Flash introduced Starski to. He worked with the lengedary DJ for about 4 or 5 years, carrying equipment and filling in for him when he was too tired to play. He eventually became a DJ at the Disco Fever club (featured in the film Beat Street) in 1978 . He also deejayed at Harlem World, home to many famous MC battles of the time.

Starski recorded his first single, "Positive Life," on the Tayster record label in 1981.

The legend recorded “You Gotta Believe” b/w “Live at The Fever Disco” on Fever Records in 1983, produced by Larry Smith & Kurtis Blow.

Later, he recorded a song for the soundtrack of the 1986 film Rappin, which was released on Atlantic Records, before recording his first album, House Rocker, on Epic/CBS Records. This featured his most successful chart single, "Amityville (The House on the Hill)," a parody song named in reference to the film The Amityville Horror (itself based on alleged supernatural activities surrounding the DeFeo murder case) was a #12 hit in the UK Singles Chart,[1] and hit the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. in 1986.
