Unfortunately, Ms. Melodie, the ex-wife of KRS-One and member of Boogie Down Productions, has passed away. There is no word on the cause of death at this time.

The legendary Ms. Melodie is a native of Brooklyn, NY and is survived by her two sons.

She produced her 1st single, Hype According To Ms. Melodie, which also featured co-production and turntable work from KRS-One. It was released in 1988 on Jive Records.

In 1989, she released her only album Diva, which featured the majority of the tracks produced by KRS-One, as well as production from Sam Sever and Teddy Ted.

She also was also part of the Stop The Violence movement and appeared on the single, "Self Destruction ", with KRS-One, Chuck D, Flavor Flav, Kool Moe Dee, MC Lyte, D Nice, Doug E. Fresh, Just Ice, Heavy D, and Stetsasonic "s Daddy O, Delite, Fruitkwan and Wise.

Melodie was mentioned in Nas " 2006 song "Where Are They Now?" as the Queens, New York emcee stated, "I hope she packin " a bankroll."

Melodie "s passing comes less than two weeks after another late 1980s alum, KMG from Above The Law, also died.
