The MMG takeover was in effect earlier today in New York City.
Holding a much-hyped press conference this afternoon, hosted by RapRadar CEO
Elliott Wilson and featuring guest speakers Swizz Beatz and Diddy, Rick Ross
and his Maybach Music team Wale and Meek Mill (and the newly recruited Omarion,
aka Maybach O) had plenty to share.
After much deliberation, the Bawse finally revealed the release date for his
hugely anticipated fifth studio album, God Forgives, I Don’t, tagging
it with a July 31st release. The album, which is set to feature both the Just
Blaze-produced “I Love My B*tches” and the Nicki Minaj-assisted
“You The Boss“, was originally scheduled to arrive on December 13th
of last year.
Speaking at the press conference, Ross briefly elaborated on the LP’s
sonic, letting fans know they can expect a “very lyrical” effort
that may display some “dark” themes. He’s certainly set himself
a high bar to reach with January’s tyrannical mixtape (or “street
album”, as it deserves to be labelled), Rich Forever.
The release dates for the remainder of MMG’s output were also announced
today. The label’s Self Made Vol. 2 compilation will be released on June
26th, French Montana‘s Excuse My French will be released on July 17th,
Meek Mill’s debut LP, Dreams and Nightmares will be released on August
28th, with Wale’s third LP, and second on Maybach Music, arriving at the
very top of 2013.
