Nearly 30 years ago Kangol Kid had hip-hop listeners chanting "Roxanne, Roxanne". Now the UTFO rap artist has students at the Mosaic Prep Academy, PS 375, chanting a spin on a lyric from that popular song: "We never lose because we "re all about winning".

That "s the message Kangol has been working to spread in the fight against breast cancer ever since since starting up Mama Luke. It "s a foundation he started in memory of his dear friend Gay Frances Lucas who passed away from the disease.

"Everyone has lost someone or knows someone who has lost their lives to breast cancer. just decided to do something. I "m not a doctor, I can "t cure breast cancer. But I can be part of the solution," Kid said.

PS 375 Principal Lisette Caesar says raising awareness fits in well with ongoing conversations they try to have with students about health.
