A number of Hip-Hop icons will be on hand for Hip-Hop Public Health "s 3rd Annual Summit at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in Harlem, New York.

World famous rapper Doug E. Fresh will team with Hip Hop Public Health "s artist collaborators Kool Moe Dee, DMC from Run-DMC, Chuck D., Easy A.D. and The Cold Crush Brothers, who will host hundreds of elementary and middle public school children and their parents during 3rd Annual Summit.

The rappers, along with Hip Hop Public Health founder Dr. Olajide Williams, will speak to the families about the importance of good nutrition, and regular exercise.

During the 3rd Annual Summit, the legendary rappers will drop the CD, Hip Hop Health The Album: Volume 1, which features Doug E. Fresh, Crew Grrl Order, Easy A.D., Artie Green, The Cold Crush Brothers and others.

Hip Hop Health the Album: Volume 1 features songs like "Exercise and Be Calorie Wise," "Keep Your Brain Healthy" and "Hip Hop Smoke," which speaks about the dangers of smoking cigarettes.

“Our young people may not need to worry about having a heart attack or stroke, but they need to know that their lifestyle choices now may influence their health later on,” said Dr. Olajide Williams aka the "Hip Hop MD."

“Our organization is dedicated to using rhyme and dance to introduce health education initiatives to kids and their families, and this album is another initiative we’ve undertaken to harness the power of urban music, to help foster better health among inner-city kids," said Dr. Williams. "Our research has shown the messages we impart through music linger long after the rhymes end.”

Hip Hop Health "s 3rd Annual Summit at the Schomberg Center for Research in Black Culture takes place June 9th at 5:00 PM.
