Uncle Russell Goes Back to DefJam

Today Friday, April 1st, site Global Grind has reported that Hip Hop mogul Russell Simmons will be returning to head Def Jam Recordings, the label he co-founded with Rick Rubin back in 1984. Below is how Global Grind is reporting the news:

“Earlier this week, Russell Simmons made a deal with Def Jam Recordings to return to the label as the President/CEO after the departure of LA Reid. Russell began Def Jam in 1984 with Rick Rubin and went on to release classic albums from Run-DMC, the Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Jay-Z and many more. He sold Def Jam to Universal in 1999, and since has not been involved in the day-to-day operations.

In his new role as President/CEO, Russell will oversee the entire roster of Def Jam artists including: Kanye West, Rihanna, Rick Ross, Ludacris, Big K.R.I.T, Young Yeezy and others.

This story is still developing…”
