Jay-Z Adds Hip-Hop Vibe To Justin Timberlakes Suit & Tie

When you’ve been gone from music for six years like Justin Timberlake has, you need to make a big splash with your first single out of the gate. With “Suit & Tie,” from his upcoming album, The 20/20 Experience, JT has done just that. But the song doesn’t just work because of the “Social Network” star’s vocals and beat-maestro Timbaland’s production, which are both top notch. What makes this song really snap, crackle and pop is the guest 16 from Jay-Z, who reminds fans that no one does “black excellence” better than Hov.

Jay drops too many golden nuggets to sift from this sonic pan, but standout lines like “style got gout from having the best of the best” and “I "m at the restaurant with my rent disturbing the guests,” carry over the theme of opulence and grandeur the he and Kanye West so expertly displayed on their joint LP, Watch the Throne.

Other notable lines include, “years of distress, tears on the dress/try to hide her face with some makeup sex” and “no papers, catch favors/get high, out Vegas,” which show Hov’s lyrical dexterity and comfort when he’s in the pocket of a beat.

And while Beyonce didn’t make the cut for this track, Shawn Carter gets his better half involved with this closing line: “Tell your mother that I love her cause I love you/Tell your father we go farther as a couple/They ain "t lose a daughter, got a son/I show you how to do this, Hun!”

Justin will undoubtedly garner copious amounts of radio play with this new collabo with Jay, but this is par for the course for the "SexyBack" singer, who has had a long, successful history with linking up with the best in hip-hop.

First, there was "Like I Love You," featuring The Clipse from his debut album, Justified. Then there was “Ayo Technology, which was a collab with 50 Cent from 50’s third studio album, Curtis. But JT’s biggest hip-hop collab to date was "My Love," which featured T.I. The single was all over the charts and went on to win the duo a Best Rap/Sung Collaboration Grammy in 2007.

No word on whether or not JT’s newest album will feature any other rappers, but if Jay is the only MC to drop a verse, it gets no better than that.
