The Roots, Talib Kweli Slated To Perform At Carnegie Hall For Prince Tribute

Two of Hip Hop "s most revered acts will pay tribute to Prince at an upcoming performance at Carnegie Hall.

Although he "s better known as one of the "80s leading pop acts, it looks like Prince is about to get the Hip Hop treatment. According to Entertainment Weekly, some of Hip Hop "s finest will pay tribute to the Minnesota singer-songwriter at an upcoming show.

Hip Hop icons The Roots and Talib Kweli have been enlisted to perform at an upcoming tribute concert for Prince at New York City "s Carnegie Hall on March 7. The concert is part of the venue "s annual spring fundraiser for music education programs in schools.

“Prince is one of the most prolific songwriters in my collection,” said the concert "s organizer Michael Dorf. “He makes my Top 10 when I think about the artists who have truly shaped modern music.”

Other artists slated to perform include Booker T, Living Colour, the Blind Boys of Alabama, DeVotchKa and Madeleine Peyroux.
