According to CBS 46, the rapper tapped into his inner Santa to hand out gifts to children of parents who are currently incarcerated.
While speaking with 11 Alive, T.I. revealed that he can relate to those unable to be with their children and families during the holidays. At one point in his career, the rapper spent months in prison over weapons charges.
“I know how it feels to not be able to spend Christmas with your kids, and maybe even for them, to be in the position to do as much for your children because of circumstances,” T.I. said. “Everybody needs a little help sometimes, so I’m going to come and do what I can for those who need it the most.”
T.I. invited those on social media to tag along for yesterday’s gift giving, broadcasting the day’s festivities via the Instagram live feature.
In addition to offering gifts to dozens of children, T.I. also provided a few words of advice to those in need of the gift of optimism this holiday season.
“Continue to take it a day at a time,” the rapper said. “Don’t try to do too much too fast, and don’t be frustrated for not being able to do too much too fast. Just make sure your tomorrow’s are better than yesterday.”
No stranger to giving back, T.I. has taken part in a variety of charitable efforts during the holidays. Last December, he surprised families at two local Walmarts by paying for their holiday gifts.
