In 1997, Nia Long and Larenz Tate starred in the Chicago-set film Love Jones film, which quickly developed a cult-like following. The upcoming stage production includes Chrisette Michelle, Musiq Soulchild, Marsha Ambrosius, Raheem Devaughn, Dave Hollister and Hip Hop legend, MC Lyte, who will serve as the host.

The ensemble cast will reportedly mix original songs specially written for Love Jones The Musical with their own chart-topping records to appease the wide range of intended audiences.

Love Jones The Musical kicks off its 33-city trek in Oklahoma City on September 9th.
