There are holes in Jay Z's hefty catalog on Spotify, Amazon, Apple Music among other streaming services. The hip-hop mogul's Blueprint albums -- 2001's classic The Blueprint, 2002's The Blueprint 2: The Gift & The Curse and 2009's Blueprint 3 -- have disappeared from the music platforms only to become Tidal exclusives. 

'Jay-Z's Blueprint albums have not been available on any streaming service except Tidal for a few months now,' read a statement from Spotify sent to Billboard. 'We hope he brings them back soon so that his millions of fans on Spotify can enjoy them again.' (Last April, Jay's 1996 debut Reasonable Doubt was also removed from Spotify.)

The business move from the chief Tidal owner follows similar moves from the likes of Adele (who pulled her record-breaking studio effort 25) and Taylor Swift, whose label, Big Machine Label Group, shunned streaming altogether. While Swift wrote an op-ed for The Wall Street Journal discussing the future of music as well as her grief with streaming, Adele told TIME last December that she was a more old-fashioned consumer. 

“For me, all albums that come out, I’m excited about leading up to release day. I don’t use streaming. I buy my music. I download it, and I buy a physical [copy] just to make up for the fact that someone else somewhere isn’t. It’s a bit disposable, streaming,' she explained. 'I know that streaming music is the future, but it’s not the only way to consume music,” she said. “I can’t pledge allegiance to something that I don’t know how I feel about yet.” (Spotify offered this statement in response: 'We love and respect Adele, as do her 24 million fans on Spotify. We hope that she will give those fans the opportunity to enjoy 25 on Spotify alongside 19 and 21 very soon.')

It's unclear whether the remaining albums from the rapper born Shawn Carter will follow suit. As of press time, the solo projects available from Jay Z's 12-disc discography on Spotify include 1999's In My Lifetime Vol. 1; 1998's Vol. 2: Hard Knock Life; 1999's Vol. 3... Life and Times of S. Carter; 2000's The Dynasty; 2003's The Black Album; 2006's Kingdom Come; 2007's American Gangster; and his latest studio release, 2013's Magna Carta... Holy Grail.
