Xzibit Has Opportunity To Earn Recurring Role On ‘Empire'

Actor-producer-rapper Alvin “Xzibit” Joiner is set to guest star on Fox’s flagship drama series Empire.

Xzibit will play Leslie “Shyne” Johnson, who is 100% wolf and 100% gangster. He has managed artists, started record imprints and even sold a few units here and there, but his bread and butter always has been — much to his years-long frustration — drugs, guns and extortion. Feeling shut out by the other heavy hitters in the music industry, he carries a big chip on his shoulder, especially for Lucious (Terrence Howard). The exact number of episodes is TBD.

Xzibit’s feature credits include Werner Herzog’s Bad Lieutenant opposite Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendes, Sony’s Gridiron Gang opposite Dwayne Johnson and xXx: State Of The Union, opposite Ice Cube and Samuel L. Jackson for Columbia. He recently recurred on CBS’ Hawaii Five-O and starred in Nat Geo’s Emmy-nominated telefilm SEAL Team Six He’s repped by Primary Wave and Don Buchwald & Associates.

Empire, which returns for the spring portion of its second season on March 30, stars Howard, Taraji P. Henson, Jussie Smollett, Bryshere “Yazz” Gray, Trai Byers, Grace Gealey, Kaitlin Doubleday, Gabourey Sidibe, Ta’Rhonda Jones and Serayah McNeill. Guest stars have included Chris Rock, Alicia Keys, Marisa Tomei, Naomi Campbell, Ludacris, Adam Rodriguez, Vivica A. Fox, Rosie O’ Donnell and Andre Royo.

From Imagine Television in association with 20th Century Fox Television, Empirewas created by Lee Daniels and Danny Strong, and is executive-produced by Daniels, Strong, Brian Grazer, Ilene Chaiken and Francie Calfo.
