Kendrick Lamar Takes Home Five Grammy Awards

Kendrick Lamar led the field with 11 nominations, including for every Rap category and for Album of the Year with To Pimp a Butterfly.

The Rap categories were announced prior to the national broadcast. Lamar won the awards for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap song for 'Alright' and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration with Bilal, Anna Wise and Thundercat for 'These Walls.' Besides being nominated for his own music, he was nominated because of his credits on Kanye West's 'All Day.'

During the broadcast, he won Best Rap Album, beating out J. Cole, Dr. Dre, Drake and Nicki Minaj. He was presented the award by Ice Cube and his son, O'Shea Jackson Jr.

Lamar was also awarded 'Best Music Video' for his appearance on Taylor Swift's 'Bad Blood.'

Swift won Best Album for 1989. Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars won Record of the Year for 'Uptown Funk.'

The event featured performances from Lady Gaga, The Weeknd, Adele and Lamar, who performed 'Blacker the Berry' 'Alright' and 'Untitled.'

LL Cool J hosted the event for the fifth time.
