The Game has etched his name into the music history books. The Compton rapper’s The Documentary 2 and The Documentary 2.5 both debuted in the Top 5 of the Billboard Top Current Albums chart and Top Album Sales chart in back-to-back weeks. That accomplishment makes Game the first artist to release a Top 5 album on those charts in consecutive weeks.
The Documentary 2 sold over 83,000 in pure sales (95,000 sales plus streaming) in its first week of release. The Documentary 2.5 was released the following Friday and pushed over 41,000 pure albums (48,000 SPS).
Both projects – released through eOne – are presently in the Top 10 on the Current Album and Top Album Sales charts. They also sit in the Top 5 on the Independent Albums Chart this week.
The Documentary 2.5 landed at #6 on the Billboard 200 (which calculates sales plus streaming numbers). Its predecessor is currently at #11 after opening in the #2 spot. In addition, The Documentary 2 and 2.5 both debuted at #1 on the Indie chart.
