Jay Z and Beyonce’s contributions to social change have long been questioned, but it seems the hip-hop power couple is more involved than the masses know. Writer, filmmaker and organizer Dream Hampton took to Twitter on Sunday morning (May 17) to divulge that the Carters have relinquished “tens of thousands” of dollars to the #BlackLivesMatter cause, from bailing protesters out of jail in Baltimore and Ferguson, to infrastructure needs.

Sharing that she was not under instruction to inform the masses of Hov and Bey’s philanthropy – in fact, that they actually preferred the opposite – hampton tweeted that she didn’t care “if Jay gets mad.” Soon after the tweets were removed. The rant was of course, however, screenshot.
