MOBB DEEP Confirms New Project

It looks like not only will we have a new Mobb Deep album in the next few months, but that said album will be produced entirely by the Alchemist. Speaking with The Huffington Post, Prodigy, one half of the legendary duo, confirmed that the record (which is coming out in “a few months, probably”) would be helmed by the revered Beverly Hills producer. Though very few details are available right now, Prodigy was enthusiastic and emphatic in saying the record is “coming out dope.” A rep from Mobb Deep also confirmed to XXL that the album is happening but their is no release date right now.

Despite hailing from the West coast, Alchemist has become a go-to producer for New York veterans and newcomers alike. He produced Rare Chandeliers for Action Bronson in 2012 and is also rumored to be working on a full-length record with Roc Marciano. He has an extensive working history with Prodigy; their first record together was 2007′sReturn Of The Mac.

The infamous Mobb’s last album was 2014′s The Infamous Mobb Deep. Technically a double LP, it contains one disc of brand-new music and another of B-sides and unreleased music culled from the sessions for their seminal second album,The Infamous. Before that, this decade proved tumultuous for the duo, with a rash of feuds, make-ups, more falling outs, more reconciliations. Prior to that, their last recorded music together was 2006′s Blood Money, which came out during the brief experiment that landed them on 50 Cent’s G-Unit label.
