50 Cent Donates Gadhafi Concert Proceeds To Unicef

After learning his concert was linked to the Libyan leader, 50 donates the earnings to charity.

50 Cent is the latest in a slew of artists making donations to charity after learning of a links between their concerts and Libyan Leader Moammar Gadhafi.

According to Billboard, the Queens emcee performed at an event linked to the clan of controversial Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi.

A statement released yesterday (March 9) revealed that the rapper will be making a donation to UNICEF to aid the organization in its relief efforts in Libya.

"In light of the ongoing events in Libya, 50 Cent will be making a donation to UNICEF, which is providing vital relief supplies to meet the needs of women and children at risk during this crisis," said a representative for the rap star.

50 performed at a private event during the 2005 Venice Film Festival that was linked to Gadhafi, who is currently battling rebels who are revolting against him, and faces investigation for war crimes.

The rapper follows in the footsteps of Beyonce, Usher, Mariah Carey and Nelly Furtado, all of whom had simimlar experiences.

Beyonce donated her fee from a 2009 New Year "s Eve performance on St. Bart "s to Haiti earthquake relief efforts, while Usher, who was paid to attend the event, announced a donation to Amnesty International. Furtado did not identify a charity, but said she would be donating the money.
