QTip Plans To Release 25th Anniv Edition of “The Low End Theo

Any greatest Hip Hop groups of all time list that does not include A Tribe Called Quest is rightfully open to criticism. The Native Tongues collective members’ classic albums like The Low End Theory and Midnight Marauders have inspired two generations of rap fans and artists.

A Tribe Called Quest also introduced the world to a legendary emcee/producer by the name of Q-Tip. The Queens native is set to release his next solo album The Last Zululater this year, and Tip connected with BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Benji B for a in-depth audio documentary about The Abstract.

Q-Tip discusses growing up in New York City, being first mesmerized by Hip Hop culture, working with Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill on an upcoming TV series, and his The Last Zulu LP. The audio documentary also features perspectives from Pharrell Williams, Nas, The Pharcyde, and more.

During the discussion, Tip also reveals plans to reissue The Low End Theory with unreleased music from Tribe and associates of the group.

We’re going to come to 25 years on Low End Theory pretty soon, and I’m going to put out a special edition. I’m announcing it here first to the world. I will be putting out a special edition 25th year anniversary album. We’re going to include all of the stuff you guys probably never heard, different mixes. And one of those songs I’ll include when we get to the Low End Theory is this song that we did – I think it was called “Silence” and Leaders of the New School were on it.
