Raekwon And Jay Electronica Will Headline 2014′s Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival
Last night, Brooklyn Bodega held the kickoff announcement party for the 10th anniversary of their Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival, where they announced that Raekwon and Jay Electronica would be the two major headliners at this year’s fest.
Rae and Jay will also be joined by Joey Bada$$, CJ Fly and Pro Era, which Brooklyn Bodega Executive Director Wes Jackson compared to the early Wu-Tang Clan. This year’s festival will take place from July 9-14, with the major performances set for Saturday the 12th.
Raekwon will become the second Wu-Tang Clan member to headline the festival, after Ghostface in 2007. According to Jackson, locking down Electronica wasn’t as difficult as he’d expected; the real surprise, he said in a quick conversation following the announcement, was that Electronica refused to be part of the festival if he was the headliner over Raekwon, preferring to perform before the Shaolin chef as a show of respect.
Raekwon is gearing up for the release of his next solo album, Fly International Luxurious Art, as well as those rumored Wu-Tang albums that may or may not ever see the light of day, while Electronica has re-appeared more often in recent weeks with new tracks, including the remix of “We Made It” which saw Jay Z throwing shots at Drake.
