Nas is making sure that even if you were not born to live through Illmatic‘s debut, you will be able to appreciate it during its anniversary. The documentary Time Is Illmatic will open this year’s Tribeca Film Festival and Nas will perform the album in its entirety after the screening.
The documentary, directed by One9 and written by Erik Parker, will chronicle the making of Illmatic as well as Nas’ musical history including his father, Olu Dara’s jazz career.
Nas is also scheduled to perform Illmatic in its entirety at this year’s Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival April 12th and 19th.
The film will screen on April 16th at the Tribeca Film Festival. Festival packages and ticket purchases are set to be available to the general public on March 10th with single ticket sales being offered on April 14th.
